My husband, Jonathan, and I both were raised in western Montana.  Growing up, I never would have imagined myself dreaming how I do now until after meeting Jonathan.  My passions now range far and wide, and with most things I think “I can do that”.  Jonathan has always had a curiosity for the natural world and learning how things work. Jonathan’s passions now include blacksmithing, welding, other metal work, rustic carpentry, and all things science. Together our passions have molded into one dream of self sustainability and living off the land.

We believe that homesteading starts with a dream.  A dream for more, to be sufficient and reliant on ourselves and our local community.  To be able to withstand the trials and struggles this world may bring and not be shaken when the unexpected happens.  This stems from a belief that God has called us to be good stewards of what we have been blessed with and to make wise and resourceful decisions, a belief we take to heart. 

With that idea in mind we made the decision to homestead where we are, and while it may not be the most ideal location…we have hardly any land, just a standard town lot…we know that there is plenty we can do here to learn and grow in our skills and knowledge.  We are working hard to get to our dreams of owning land one day, but until then, we will learn what we can and grow how we need to so we are ready.

Starry Skies Homestead was founded with these beliefs and dreams in mind.  It is a promise to ourselves to foster that homesteading mentality in ourselves no matter where we live, to always be learning and growing, and to steward what God has blessed us with to the best of our abilities.
